This year, the City of Brea proudly commemorates the 50th anniversary of its Art in Public Places Program, celebrating five decades of dedication to public art. Established in 1975, Brea’s Art in Public Places Program was one of the first in California to require the integration of public art into new private development projects. To date, the program has resulted in 195 diverse and dynamic sculptures created by renowned artists who have been a part of shaping a vibrant and inspiring public environment.
To further celebrate this milestone, the Brea Gallery presents a special anniversary exhibition Mapping the Landscape: A 50 Dialogue of Art + the Community, highlighting eight selected artists whose work is part of the public art collection.
