Into the Light: Plein Air Invitational

The Into the Light Plein Air Invitational was on view from August 1 to September 13, 2015. This exhibition celebrated California's fascination with the impressionistic approach to landscape, cityscape, and seascape painting and its role in the state's transformation as an art hub. This study of light was a compilation of local plein air artists featuring a selection of works ranging from oils to watercolors to pastels. Works in the show depicted recognizable local scenes including Huntington Beach, Brea Canyon, and many more familiar sights. The show also included a special behind-the-scenes look into the life of a plein air artist through videos, pictures, and stories shared by the participating artists.
