HOPE Center Partnership for Homeless Outreach

Addressing homelessness is a concern for all cities. In Brea, the City is partnering with the HOPE Center for street homeless outreach. Open in late 2022, the HOPE Center is designed as a structured, collaborative and highly leveraged approach for street homeless outreach workers to respond in real time when encountering individuals experiencing street homelessness and when applicable, to dispense specialized resources. The HOPE Center functions as a regional-wide response, integrating data and centralizing resources to street homeless in our surrounding communities. While homeless outreach services for the City of Brea are now centralized at the HOPE Center, the Brea Resource Center and Brea Police Department will continue to work in conjunction with their staff.

To report or assist an individual experiencing homelessness, please call 657-243-1884. Live dispatch is available Monday – Friday, but voicemails can be left afterhours and during the weekend. As always, for life-threatening emergencies, call 911.

The Tracks at Brea

The Tracks at Brea Community Workshop

The City of Brea is hosting a community workshop for the planning of the Tracks at Brea western extension, spanning from Brea Creek Loop to North Berry Street. We want to hear from you and what you would like to see on this extension of Brea’s trail! Join us this Thursday, October 5, at 6:00 p.m. at the Brea Community Center in the Arts Studio.

The Tracks at Brea provides users with access to and an escape into a park-like environment featuring educational opportunities, open spaces, and recreational activities. The Tracks at Brea itself is a 4-mile trail that traverses Brea, but it is also part of the OC Loop, which is a 66-mile long non-vehicular travel route that connects neighborhoods, commercial centers, and schools in the Orange County area.

For more information, please email tracksatbrea@cityofbrea.net or call 714-671-4447.

Community Feedback Needed to Prepare for Hazardous Events

The City of Brea is preparing its first Local Hazard Mitigation Plan (LHMP). It is a five-year strategic plan to prepare the City for hazard events. The LHMP allows public safety officials and city staff, elected officials, and members of the public to understand the threats from natural and human-caused hazards in our community. The plan will also recommend specific actions to proactively decrease these threats before disasters occur. In addition, having a LHMP will open grant eligibility from FEMA and the state.

As part of the planning process, the community's input is needed to ensure that concerns are heard and addressed. An online survey is now available to take and a Community Workshop will be held on Thursday, November 9 at 6:00 p.m. at the Brea Civic & Cultural Center. Please share the survey and meeting date with your neighbors so they too can be a part of the process!
