2023 State of the City
The City of Brea is excited to announce that this year’s State of the City will be available for the entire community to view on Wednesday, September 6. Mayor Simonoff, along with Brea City Council Members and City staff, will recap accomplishments, celebrate the community, and preview goals for the year ahead. Topics such as, budget, development, public safety, and more will be discussed. This is your opportunity to learn about your city! Watch the State of the City online, at your convenience. It will be available to view on-demand on the City of Brea YouTube channel starting September 6. Also on that day, it will play continuously on BreaTV, available online, on Spectrum 3, and AT&T Uverse 99. What is Your Vision for Arts and Culture?
Work has commenced on the City's first-ever Cultural Arts Master Plan. A community-based Steering Committee began their work in late July and has been regularly meeting. In the coming months there will be several opportunities for the community to share their goals and priorities for arts and culture. These include, community workshops, online surveys, and more. The first opportunity is a community workshop at the end of September. At the workshop, participants can brainstorm about the arts and cultural programs and services they feel would benefit the Brea community.
The Arts and Cultural visioning sessions will be available in English, Korean, and Spanish at the Brea Civic & Cultural Center, 1 Civic Center Circle, Level 2 in Community Room B at 6:00 p.m. on: - Tuesday, September 26 in English
- Wednesday, September 27 in English and Korean
- Thursday, September 28 in English and Spanish

The Brea Gallery is now selling exclusive City of Brea merchandise in their Gift Shop. September is National Preparedness Month
National Preparedness Month (NPM) is recognized each September to raise awareness about the importance of preparing for disasters and emergencies that could happen at any time. The theme for 2023 is: “Take Control in 1, 2, 3”. Each week this month, the campaign will focus on a different aspect of preparedness for individuals, families and communities. Use this month to make a plan, build a kit, prepare for disasters and teach youth about preparedness. Visit ready.gov for tips on how to prepare for a disaster.

Inner Coastal Clean-Up Day
On Saturday, September 23, from 7:00 -11:00 a.m., the City’s Public Works Department will be holding its 20th Annual Inner Coastal Cleanup event. The event will take place at the Brea Creek Channel, located at the lower level of the downtown parking structure at the end of Birch Street. This is a popular event that attracts hundreds of volunteers each year to help create a healthier watershed. Help Keep our City Safe and Aesthetically Pleasing
The City of Brea would like to provide you with some friendly community reminders. On your trash service days, please remember to place trash bins at the curb in front of your dwelling or in the alley at the rear of your dwelling. According to City Code, bins should be placed no earlier than sunset of the day preceding the day designated for collection, and all three waste bins should be removed from the place of collection before 10:00 p.m. of the day the bins have been emptied. In addition, we would like to remind residents that overnight parking is prohibited from the hours of 2:00 a.m. – 6:00 a.m. on City Streets, City Structures, and City Lots. In City park lots, overnight parking is prohibited from 10:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m. Residents without adequate private, off-street parking in their garage, carport or driveway, may apply for the annual parking permit. >>>Click Here for More Information

Senior Health Fair The Brea Senior Center‘s annual Health Fair & Flu Clinic is on Friday, September 22 from 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Guests can receive a flu shot, free health screenings, free Omega-3 Fish Oil supplements, and more.

Labor Day
The following City of Brea facilities will be closed due to the Labor Day holiday this Monday, September 4, 2023; City Hall, Brea Art Gallery, Brea Resource Center, Brea Senior Center, Curtis Theatre, and Public Works City Service Yard. The Brea Community Center will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., the fitness center, located inside the Brea Community Center, will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Upcoming Theatre Performance
The Curtis Theatre has their new fall and winter shows queued up for the community. Starting September 3, you can view the Happily Ever After…One Woman’s Journey to Find a True Love at the Curtis Theatre. You will also be happy to see the return of some holiday favorites such as Christmas with The Alley Cats and It’s a Wonderful Life, A Live Radio Play.
