Celebrate Brea Fest!

Brea Fest, the community’s favorite end of summer event, is the “tastiest” celebration of the year! This year, it takes place on Friday, August 11 from 6:30 – 10:00 p.m. at the Brea Civic & Cultural Center. Guests are invited to sample delicious food and beverages donated from local restaurants while listening to live music from Rayford Bros., Jimmy's Buffet and Black and Whyte, a dueling piano show.

There will be a special Baudeogi performance from our Anseong, Korea Sister City. Our Brea Gallery will be open with free admission to view the current exhibit No Song Unsung. In the spirit of the exhibit, the Brea Gallery will have vintage arcade games available for guests to play, free of charge.

Save money by purchasing pre-sale tickets now through August 10. Brea Fest admission and entertainment are free. Tickets that can be used for food and/or beverages are $4 each. Proceeds from the event help support Brea’s Art Programs, such as the Curtis Theatre, Brea Art Gallery, and Concerts in the Park. Don’t miss this family-friendly event that celebrates the arts and our Brea spirit!

National Night Out

Join the Brea Police Department as they host their annual National Night Out on Tuesday, August 1 from 5:00 - 9:00 p.m. at the Brea Downtown. National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. Enjoy photo ops with emergency vehicles and Public Works equipment, KP demonstrations, a dunk tank, balloon artist, games, raffles and more.

Construction Alert

On Wednesday, August 2 and Thursday, August 3, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., one westbound lane of Birch Street, west of Associated Road, will be closed as crews work to remove trees. There will be traffic control at the intersection, sidewalks will be closed, and pedestrians will be redirected to a safer crossing route. While Brea loves trees, we also love our pedestrians and their safety! The trees being removed have created unsafe sidewalks. The City is working with the property owner to replace the trees with ones that better fit the area.

Please plan to drive patiently through Birch Street, or choose an alternate route during this time.

OC Waste & Recycling Urges Responsible Disposal of Batteries

OC Waste & Recycling (OCWR) is issuing an alert to remind all county residents and businesses of the importance of proper disposal of hazardous waste, especially batteries. Improperly disposed batteries continue to be the leading cause of fires in the waste system, which endangers lives, causes expensive damage and disrupts waste services.

Disposal is easy and available via drive-through at any of the four OCWR Household Hazardous Waste Collection Centers (HHWCC) located throughout the County. Simply place items in the trunk or truck bed and upon arrival at a HHWCC, a trained staff will collect the materials for recycling or proper disposal. The four HHWCCs are conveniently located in Anaheim (1071 N. Blue Gum Street), Huntington Beach (17121 Nichols Lane, Gate 6), Irvine (6411 Oak Canyon) and San Juan Capistrano (32250 Avenida La Pata), open Tuesday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (except holidays and rainy days).
