Join Us to Discuss By-District Elections in Brea

Like many cities in our region, Brea is faced with developing voting districts for use during future City Council elections. A by-district election system is one in which the City is physically divided into separate voting districts. Per the California Voting Rights Act (CVRA), Brea is seeking community input to determine how to best map by-district election boundaries. Be a part of the process and join us on Wednesday, October 27 at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers for a Pre-Draft Map Public Hearing. Attend the meeting, in person or via Zoom, to learn more about by-district elections and to share your input. Now is your opportunity to have your voice heard. What would districts mean to you? What would you consider your district to be? Let us hear from you and make your permanent mark to shape Brea’s future! For more information, please visit cityofbrea.net/districting.

Brea Receives an American Planning Association Award

Last month, the City received an Award of Merit from the California Chapter of the American Planning Association (APA) for its Brea Connecting the Core Active Transportation Plan (ATP). The plan was a collaborative effort between the City and the community to prepare a long-range plan for the heart of the City.

Landscape Improvement Projects Update

The landscape improvement projects for the medians located on Associated Road and North Associated Road parkways, from Lambert Road to Sleepy Hollow Lane, have been completed. Landscape improvements for the Lambert Road medians, from Pointe Drive to Kraemer Boulevard, are substantially complete. The new landscaping includes low water use trees and plants like agave, aloe, lantana, and bougainvillea. Both projects updated the existing irrigation systems to drip systems in order to increase water conservation and avoid overspray onto adjacent sidewalks or roadways.
