Brea Fire Department Makes Improvements to Stations
The Brea Fire Department continually makes improvements to its fire stations to keep facilities up-to-date and firefighters safe. Collaborating with the City’s Public Works Department, new diesel exhaust removal systems were recently installed at each of our four fire stations. The Plymovent System consists of a hose that attaches directly to the exhaust pipe of a fire engine. When the engine is turned on, the carcinogenic fumes are mechanically extracted out of the apparatus bay, and into the atmosphere. The new system eliminates cancer-causing particulates from remaining inside the fire stations and also reduces the chance of our firefighters inhaling the harmful fumes.

One Saturday Remaining to Participate in Love Brea
Love Brea, our annual community serve day, concludes this Saturday, May 8. Spread out over four Saturdays, this year’s event was held in a COVID-conscious format. Smaller groups of families, friends or pods, that feel safe with one another, were able to choose from one or more days and service projects to serve our City. New projects were added each week, so if you have not signed up for this coming Saturday, visit LoveBrea.org to view the available projects.
To conclude this year’s Love Brea, we are asking the community to show our restaurants “love” by dining or ordering take-out this Saturday, and take a photo while you’re there. Just remember to share your photos with us by using the hashtag, “#LoveBrea” or “#LoveBrea2021.”

Brea Police Department Hosts Diaper Drive
The Brea Police Department has partnered with HomeAid Orange County to host a month-long Diaper Drive. Diapers and wipes are an essential part of raising children, but they are also one of the greatest expenses. About 22% of people experiencing homelessness in Orange County are families. Let us work together to help our littlest ones in need. The Brea Police Department will be accepting unopened packages and boxes of diapers and wipes to deliver to HomeAid. Donations can be dropped-off in a box that will be located at the circular driveway of the Brea Civic & Cultural Center beginning Monday, May 10 through Thursday, June 10.
